Xiii. Joshi..... Maharastra ... telengana.
1. A class professional astrologers & fortunetellers.
2. They are in three classes (i) The sahdev joshi..also known as Hussani Brahmans . claims descendent from the famous Astrologers Sahdev the grand son of the great Poet of Kalidas and the son of Devi das --- and his wife BHADDLI... Thewy earn livelihood by deciphering (almances)
3. In telengana.. the are known as teli raja..(i)
(i) In Amrapur Joshi's take their name from the ancient village of Amarpur.
4. The Sarvade Joshi ... are4 found in the MARATHA Distt. of Aurangabad , Bir and PARbhani . They are fortune tellers.and Astrologers. They are derives away from door to door.
The caste is broken up into exgamous sections of teh Maratha type of sername. A few them
are noticed below :-
1. Sonune. 2. Gaj kesar 3. Punchange. 4. Bhise. 5. Bhagawat..6.Lambkane. 7. Vaidya. 8.Pate.
9. Renukadas. 10.More. 11. Jadhava. 12. Shinde. 13. Ghadage. 14. Mitrak. 15. Samsari. 16. Mahajan.

Note :- Girls that are offered to the Godess Bhawani , in fulfilment of vows , are called
ARADHINIS: . Such girls are enjoined not to marry , but to lead a religious life BEGGING
in the name of "AMBABAI " and subsisting on ALMS. The ARADHINI'S dress like the
Maratha women , are set out for begging......
RELIgion :- All Joshi pay devotion to the GOD Shani ( The planet Saturn ) whom they regard
with special reverence...
The Amarpur KAr Joshi'S are devotees of the Godess Bhawan whoise temple at Tuljapur in the Usmanabad Distt. They visit every year on the Dussera Festival( Ashvin 10th or middle of October)
NOTE:- DEsatha Brahman are engaged as priest and conduct their marriage services..
Occupation :. As has already benn stated, the charaltastics occupation of the Joshi's are Begging.
Many of the have now settled down to other pursuits and beg only Saturday's from house to house and accept oil in the name of hani and other Grahs, (Planets.)
